It is now very common upon turning the legal age limit, to begin taking driving lessons. Whether this is privately, or with a driving school that teaches learners how to drive, driving lessons are a necessity to pass the practical driving test. Many people have the view that gaining the ability to drive will open up doors for them, and offer them a sense of independence. Whether they wish to travel, or require a driving license for work purposes, or simply to improve their job prospects, driving lessons are essential.

Driving lessons will begin by teaching the pupil the basics of the car, how it functions and operates, and basically making them familiar with the vehicle itself. Some driving instructors, in the first lesson, may allow the learner to drive the car for a short period of time. This will be simply to put what they’ve just been taught into practice. And the lessons will continue this way, with the learner being taught the various manoeuvres as well as the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of the driving world.

The lesson will last for an hour or two hours, depending on the instructor, and may be once a week, or a few times in the week. Before taking the practical exam, the learner must first past the theory test which will test basic knowledge of the rules and regulations of the road and driving, such as signs and stopping distances. Although many people begin taking lesson at the age of 17 – the legal age limit in the UK, many people who simply wish to pass their test, and never had the option or chance to whilst young, can still take driving lessons. There are no restrictions placed on this.
