HGV Training

Learning to drive a heavy goods vehicle is quite different from learning to drive a normal car. Because of their incredible size and weight HGVs handle very differently to regular vehicles and if you want to drive one then you'll have to undergo some specialist training in order for you to get accustomed to the different driving style. Also, it's very important to make sure that HGV drivers are properly trained, as these vehicles can be extremely dangerous should they be involved in a crash.

Maintaining these vehicles is also very different from keeping a typical car running. The components can be very expensive should they need replacing. However, Scania parts and components for other leading brands of truck are often available from salvage yards. Some specialist salvage yards will have a huge selection of HGV parts, so finding the Scania parts you require should be a lot easier and cheaper than buying them directly from the manufacturer or Scania parts dealer.

A great deal of the HGV training will be focused on safety, as the road safety can be quite different for drivers of these vehicles. It is important that HGV drivers are considerate to other road users, as their vehicles are much larger than many others using the highways. The length of the vehicle often causes problems for people new to driving HGVs, so they will be accompanied by trained instructors when they first hit the road.
